Ever wanted to learn how to make paper cranes and snowflakes? Or, like me, you’ve forgotten how to and want to relearn those motor skills again!
Prof. Lisa Bellen-Boyer will be hosting an origami (from Japanese ori meaning “folding” and kami meaning “paper”) workshop on Friday, Oct. 26, and Thursday, Dec. 6. On Friday, we will be learning how to fold origami cranes among other things. On Dec. 6, we will be making paper snowflakes in both simple and elaborate ways.

It’s Midterm exams week (Oct. 17 – Oct. 23) and that means a lot of studying and a lot of stress for students and faculty! We’ve opened up the Gabert Library Makerspace with movie showings and arts and crafts activities so you can unwind as your heavy brain processes all the studying you’ve been doing. (As of right now, Moana is being shown. You’re welcome! You’re welcome! And thank you!)
Also, if you have any recommendations of movies to show during finals week, email James Cox and we can set up a time and date to watch your recommendation.

If you have kids, babysit kids, know someone who has kids, or you have younger siblings, nieces, nephews, etc., then feel free to invite them at the following holiday events we will have in the Gabert Library Makerspace! We will have arts and crafts, LEGO, and other activities for all young ages to enjoy. This event also helps HCCC students and staff to de-stress as the fall semester becomes loaded with exams, papers, and other school stuff.
Come on by! Click on the flyer below for dates and times! See you there!
If you have never knitted anything your whole life or you just want to brush up your skills after not having done so for a long time, now is your chance. Starting Oct. 10 and running until Dec. 12 we will be having knitting classes with Diane Damp, AKA yaya17, of Yarn Art Yoga Academy. All skills — newbie, beginner, intermediate, advanced — are welcome. They will be held on Wednesdays and Thursdays in the Gabert Library Makerspace.
