Circulation Services

The HCCC Libraries provides students, faculty, employees, and alumni with circulation services, including the ability to borrow a variety of materials as described below.

Items:

Students may borrow 8 items total, of which 2 may be DVDs, Blu-Rays, or CD-ROMs.

Faculty and adjunct faculty may borrow 8 items total, of which 2 may be DVDs, Blu-Rays, or CD-ROMs.

Employees may borrow 8 items total, of which 2 may be DVDs, Blu-Rays, or CD-ROMs.

Alumni may borrow 4 items total, of which 2 may be DVDs, Blu-Rays, or CD-ROMs.

Borrowing periods:

Students, faculty and adjunct faculty, alumni, and HCCC employees may borrow library books, except for Reference Books, which do not circulate.  Reserve books are subject to special considerations. Details are as follows:

Books, except for Reference and Reserve Books:

Faculty and adjunct faculty may borrow books for the semester and may renew them without limits.

Employees may borrow books for the semester and may renew them without limits.

Students may borrow books for up to 28 days and can renew the book once for 14 days.

Alumni may borrow books for up to 28 days and can renew the book once for 14 days.

Reserve Books:

To ensure access to high circulating items in our collection, the HCCC Libraries have different rules regarding borrowing Reserve materials, including workbooks and lab manuals.

Students may borrow one Reserve item and an associated workbook or manual for up to two hours, and may renew it if no one else is waiting.

Faculty and adjunct faculty may borrow one Reserve item and an associated workbook or manual  for up to two hours, which may be renewed if no one else is waiting.

Employees may borrow one Reserve item and an associated workbook or manual  for up to two hours, which may be renewed if no one else is waiting.

Alumni may not borrow reserve materials.

DVDs, Blu-Rays, and CD-ROMs

Students, faculty and adjunct faculty, employees, and alumni may borrow materials from the Libraries’ collection of films and multimedia. Borrowing periods are described below:

Faculty may borrow DVDs, Blu-Rays, or CD-ROMs for the semester.

Employees may borrow DVDs, Blu-Rays, or CD-ROMs for the semester.

Students may borrow up to two DVDs, Blu-Rays, or CD-ROMs for 14 days, and may renew them once for 14 days.

Alumni may borrow up to two DVDs, Blu-Rays, or CD-ROMs for 14 days, and may renew them once for 14 days.

Electronics and Devices:

The Libraries makes a wide variety of electronic devices available for students, faculty, and employees.

Laptops and tablets:

Faculty may borrow laptops and tablets for the semester and may renew them without limits.

Employees may borrow laptops and tablets for the semester and may renew them without limits.

Students may borrow laptops and tablets for up to two hours of in-library use only, and may renew if no one is waiting.

Alumni may not borrow laptops and tablets.

Calculators:

Faculty and adjunct faculty may borrow calculators for 28 days and may renew them once for 28 days.

Employees may borrow calculators for 28 days and may renew them once for 28 days.

Students may borrow calculators for 14 days , and may renew them once for 14 days.

Alumni may not borrow calculators.

All other electronic devices:

Faculty and adjunct faculty may borrow electronic devices including VGA Cables, adapters, and charger cables for up to a semester.

HCCC Employees may borrow electronic devices including VGA Cables, adapters, and charger cables for up to a semester.

Students may borrow electronic devices including VGA Cables, adapters, and charger cables for up to 14 days.

Alumni may not borrow electronic devices.

Notices:

As a courtesy to patrons, the Libraries sends reminder notices when borrowed materials are due. Notices are sent as per the following schedule:

Courtesy Notice: 3 days before the item is due.

Items Due Notice: 1 day after the item is due.

Final Overdue: 14 days after the item is due.

Assumed Lost: 90 days after the item is due.

If an item is not returned, payment for replacement is expected, and borrowing privileges may be restricted.
